So I think that we can lump Charlie Wade and Dusin McCowan together except for one thing - Charlie Never murdered anyone, Dustin DID.
I think that it's fitting that the McCowans will spend the next 5-10 years all hoping and praying that Dustin will be set free only to find out that it won't happen. The Bach family had to endure a horrendous trial so a few years of hope for the McCowans that is ultimately dashed works for me.
It does not matter is Honeybee accepts it, believes it, questions it or anything else. It still does not change it.
30 years ago I was still in High School. Today I have raised 3 kids, 2 are in college and the third is still in high school. I have had a wonderful life watching them grow up. I have been blessed beyond measure. But Dustin made a decision to kill Amanda Bach. So he is done....
Dustins place for the long long time is prison and that will not be easy. He won't have kids and all of his friends will have moved on and will have their own kids in college when Dustin gets out. Dustin won't know what to make of a world that he stepped out of 30 years earlier when he was 19. He hasn't learned squat yet in his short life. The rest of what he learns will be learned in prison from prisoners. When He gets out he will probably be looking for his first job ever. His parents will be retired and old.
Forget Honeybee, Dustin is done, done, done.
Adam Lanza spent his life in the house playing a murder simulator, many call them video game, and then he went out and committed real murder. This famed the flames to take away guns but there is very little talk about the video problem and the mother that would let him play that game endlessly. There was not a father in the home.
The people I see in the paper from Gary that are killing people are not mentally insane they are flat out thugs. They are raised in a culture with a screwed up family structure and raised by gangs of thugs. Politicians love people on welfare because it gets them votes.
Politicians never deal with the real problem because they can't fix the real problem with legislation. So the pass laws that try to stop some of the consequences of the real problem which infringes on the rights of all Americans. They feel powerless to stop it but they know they need to look like they are doing something. My suggestion is stop helping to tear down the family structure. Stop passing laws that infringe on the rights of Americans that have done nothing wrong. Quit trying to push God out of everything and then being surprised how Godless people act.
I have followed this story like many of you and written many comments. Somehow now that it is over the tragedy of it all washes over me. For the poor parents of Amanda Bach who will never see her again this must feel like a hollow victory. Dustin got the max and he deserved it but sadly the Bach’s are left without Amanda. This is just very, very sad. I pray for their healing and I am so sorry for their loss.
For the McCowan's, total devastation also I'm sure. But while I have a difficult time with my feelings toward them I cannot help but feel badly for them that they lost a son to prison until he is at least 50. I have a hard time with their refusal to admit to it all. I have trouble with the alleged evidence tampering and cover-up. But I know they didn't go to work that day thinking that tonight my son will commit murder and I will lose him for at least 30 years.
On both sides it is an absolute tragedy. Will I give to the McCowan defense fund? Not a chance. I believe he got what he deserved I just wish he had made different choices that night and every night since then. I wish Amanda was still here for her parents and her friends. Sadly, that cannot be because of Dustin McCowan.
What a complete waste of two lives and the untold amount of pain for so many others on both sides of this craziness.
