I personally found a lot of unique and interesting characters here, left right and neutral, all good people I am certain. Yes there was some vitriol, at times lots of it. That was a great part of the fun. So nice to see how the other guys thinks, reasons and believes. We didn't get that in News Articles, we got it from interaction. with each other.
Not one lost a tooth, not one nose was bloodied and absolutely no one cried themselves to sleep over anything that was said in back and forth banter. Minds may not have been changed but opinions were surely expanded by being challenged.
Anonymity was actually just the right spice to add to this Goulash of repartee. I will miss the spirited debate and each and everyone of those that commented, especially the regulars and the ones I disagreed with the most. I wish each and everyone of them good health, good fortune and God's speed.
I will miss each one and wonder what they are thinking on any given article. I cherished our differences, yes we fought as real families do, but in the end we would surely fight for each other as family. .
Yes, I think the Times is making a mistake with this decision to end the comment section.
Comment stirred debate, something this Country desperately needs in these days of so many serious issues and yes the small ones count too.
We will not be silenced by this arbitrary decision.
The Times will now go from Vanilla to being Beige. At least Vanilla had a flavor...
So long good friends, never give up never give in, your opinions are your treasure hold them dear and never every stop expressing them. Since there are only 6 degrees of separation we most assuredly know or might even be related to each other: Scarey eh! You've undoubtedly broken bread with me or bought me a beer..thanks.
May God Bless you all, enjoyed your company.
Sincerely, Alfred E. Newman: What me worried? Nah...
None of the flatware had moved.
He decided to forgo maxing out all of his credit cards even though he hears the President say that Massive Spending is the way to get out of debt....
"In the olden days, we didn't have drive-bys," Town Council President Carol Miano said. - Brilliant!
Clerk-Treasurer Eugene Guernsey, a former Merrillville police officer, said "sticks and fists" were once the weapons used during gang fights. - So very insightful!
"Anymore, it's just guns," Guernsey said. - Latest and usual talking point meaning 'not my fault', so let's get on the bandwagon to disarm the honest citizenry...
A man once told me he went outside on a beautiful warm day and sat on his porch the entire day. As and experiment took his loaded gun outside with him that day and laid the gun on a table next to his car keys by his chair.
All day long cars went by, neighbors walked past, children played, skated and ran around, people walked their dogs, the mailman arrived as usual.
The man was about to go in the house after hours of enjoying the warm summer day when he noticed something. His loaded gun had not shot at or killed anyone the entire day, it hadn't even moved from where he placed it. The gun hadn't grabbed his car keys, took off in his car and did one single drive-by shooting even though it had ample opportunity to do so.
The man wasn't surprised at all, he pocketed his car keys, took his gun in the house, unloaded it and put it in his gun safe.
Have a nice day and never vote for the same genius politician twice in a row... unless you like excuses, talking points de jour and simple minded platitudes..
My comments are directed to the consequences of changing the definition of Marriage, please try and follow: Changing the definition will effect great change to "all" marriage legal rights in a big and unexpected way. You don't seem to grasp the implications and how it will change Civil, Property and Inheritance Laws. It will absolutely change aspects you cannot imagine right now without thinking it through. Property Law, Inheritance Law, will be up for grabs and thoroughly exploited by those that have much to gain from doing so. Insert the words "Greed and Arvarice" and try not to underestimate the human propensity for both.
You have no idea the Pandora's box that changing the legal definition of Marriage is going to open up and yes it will most likely be opened.
Progressives want to throw all Standards, Definitions, Differences and People into their big Governement blender, mix it all up, pour out a bland shapeless vanilla jello world that has no real substance and no longer can stand on it's own.
You want that fine, good luck with all of it. Be careful what you wish for, you may get.
Nothing against Gays that want to be married, at least someone wants to be these days.
But, if you don't think the financial shenanigans won't start immediately when say Millions of dollars worth of farm lands, businesses interests, multimillion dollar estates, etc are at stake you are simply too naive to be making comments...
Someone out there please try thinking past the end of your nose....
For every action there is a reaction and every consequence brings unintended
consequences that you cannot even begin to imagine.
The ACLU and Lawyers are salivating over this right now, watch the fun..
obamao will have to hire 50,000 more IRS agents and that's just fine with him.
