  1. Actually, there will be far fewer accidents on the Illiana. Most accidents involve two vehicles or more, this would require them to be by each other... This will be very rare on that road. And when it happens, there will be so few vehicles passing it, that there will be plenty of room in the other lane or shoulder for them to pass. If all lanes are blocked, then there might be a 10 car traffic jam.

  2. Holy cow, you could not be more wrong. My wife is a teacher in Hammond and her biggest complaint is that many parents rarely get involved. The parents should and can be involved. Many of them never even want to attend the parent/teachers meetings. They hardly help them with their homework or make sure they even do it, and have even gone as far as saying that it is not their responsibility to help or make them do it, they have told her that it is HER responsibility. They mostly attend conferences to ask about behavior, which is good, but the other thing is about when students get bad grades. But they are not their to ask what their child is doing wrong, they go to complain that the teacher is doing their job right and that is why they are doing poorly. Funny, but some other students seem to learn just fine in the class. Maybe it is because the student doesn't do his homework and the parents don't get involved. My wife WANTS communication with the parents. She invites them to call her after school, or leave a message during and she will call back after. She doesn't get very many calls. Usually, when she does get a call, she tries to set up a meeting, those appear to be rare.

  3. Apologies rover, I did some selective reading. Noticed the Kankakee part after my post. You would be one of the few that would actually benefit from what will be a desert highway.

  4. Rover, no need to wait for a toll road to avoid one. There is ALREADY a toll road to avoid it, it is called, wait for it, "The Indiana Toll Road". It's conveniently located almost right next to the Borman. Much closer to it than the Illiana will be. Try it sometime.

  5. First off, I was DEFENDING the speed guns. If I get pulled over for the speed I go, then that is what I deserve. I have received tickets. You know who I was mad at? Myself. I respect the officers. And no, I did not cry. I paid my tickets. Most people speed, but they speed at reasonable speeds. I typically drive with the flow of traffic, which tends to be between 65-70. I never go over 70, because to me that is what I consider a safe speed. I am confident at my reactions at that speed. Also, I do NOT tailgate, I am one that always stays multiple car lengths back unless in slow traffic. As far as bumper-to-bumper traffic, I am SURE they are not going to give someone a ticket for following to closely in a traffic jam. Again, these are NOT automatic tickets, these are cameras that tell an office information and the use THEIR discretion on what to do with the information. If they were interested in giving tickets in that situation, they would just have a bunch of cops walk up and down a traffic jam issuing tickets to nearly everyone. Be logical. If it is not a jam, then you still should not tailgate, even if it is moving at 40 mph and you can't move lanes. In fact, that is the WORST time to tailgate. If you hit someone in that situation, you end up getting several cars involved.

  6. So you never left something somewhere and then realized later. Oops! I forgot about that! Maybe she got home from wherever. Thought she was going to be leaving again in 5 minutes, so she left her car outside, unlocked, with the purse there. Ended up NOT having to go somewhere, and FORGOT about leaving the car unlocked, etc. Then maybe she then woke early remembering that and frantically checked realizing she made a simple mistake. This TYPE of thing happens to everyone. Not exactly the same, but it could be as simple as forgetting to shut the garage door, or locking the front door. If you never forget routine things, you are amazingly better than everyone else on the planet.

  7. A ticket for being careless? Really? If she wants to keep a purse in her car it is her right. And how careless is she? She has a security camera. If we give tickets for being careless, then why not also give them for leaving stupid comments.

  8. They are not out to bust EVERYBODY speeding. They are looking for the worst on the road at the time. I usually drive about 70 mph on the Borman. I am not too worried about getting pulled over because about 50% of the drivers are going faster than me. The police are looking for the fastest, and least safe of the ones on the road. Can you get pulled over for going 70? Sure. But most likely only if the rest of the traffic is going slower than you. If you are worried about getting a ticket. DON'T speed. Speeding is the risk YOU are willing to take. These are not the type of equipment that they mail a ticket to all the speeders. This is still where they send it to an office and they pull you over.
