Here, for you, is the interpretation of Mark Twain's quote.
Nothing, including a pig's weight or a students learning, can be increased merely
by measuring it over and over again whether by physically weighing or by academic testing.

Students today are being tested too frequently. Are you aware of how many
ambiguous questions are written on the ISTEP tests? Are you further aware of the poor credentials of the people Indiana hires to score these tests? Test results are only as valid as the construction and correct interpretation of the results. Indiana also has a poor record in the timeliness achieved in the schools receiving of the results.

PS It's pleasing to know you were only kidding about Madonna. Your "humor" however, fails to amuse. You are forgiven as it is not uncommon for some to resort to the ridiculous when frustration or lack of comprehension exists. As you can now see, Mark Twain's quote was far from stupid.....it just needed close reading. Your "education" (of which level I would match with you any day) should have included better comprehension skills. Have a nice day.

Mark Twain is quoted as having said "You cannot increase the weight of a pig by constantly weighing it". Conversely, you cannot increase the intelligence of a student by constantly testing him.

Your statements about teachers are beyond ignorant and hardly worth addressing.
It is a sad commentary that you know teachers have "long hours, hard work, and cr@p pay" and believe that it is their fault for knowing that and yet taking such a position.
Work to improve that situation as well as your own mind.

Sadly, in our society, the amount of money one earns dictates the respect they receive in return. That is one major reason teachers do not receive the respect they deserve. Perhaps you would like Dennis Rodman or Madonna to teach your child.
Yet I seriously doubt they would take the time fill out "that much info for each child"
even with their huge paychecks.
