- It is sad that everyone has lost sight of the fact of the case. A young woman was murdered. The young man who was charged and convicted does live in a small township, which, however, is surrounded by larger cities. The comment of "Mayberry" should not come in to play. The Porter County Sheriff's Department was involved in the case, not Andy and Barney. The fundamentals are that everyone has lost. The parents, extended family and friends of both the young lady and the young man. I pray for my own children to have happy and healthy relationships as they move into adulthood. As for "Honeybee" don't give him/her so much power. When you respond to his/her vitriolic diatribe, you are only giving him/her strength. Choose to ignore and post intelligent commentary and you, the reader, wins.

- You answered your own question...it was due to potential hazard, and I may add danger. When you are dealing with a structure that is approximately 150 years old you are subject to stability issues. Whether it was a wiring issue, or foul play, you should be more focused on the unfortunate situation for the tenants whose livelihood was based in those adjoining structures. Also, Valpo is now without a landmark structure. Thankfully, it has been cited in many books as an original structure to our city.

- I do know this man, unfortunately. There are not enough evil words to describe him. At my father's funeral I noticed how well done his manicure was...obviously, professionally done as his nails had a high gloss finish on them. Possibly, he will find a nice little manicurist in prison...as we all know how important his "appearance" is to him. Oh, and when he cheats on his wife while he is in there, justice will be served as now he will have to have those affairs with men instead of women!!!!

- Ok, everyone is making valid points regarding his and the republican campaign. My concern is more logistic in nature. Why was he East bound on Rte. 30 turning South bound onto Horseprairie supposedly coming from Franklin House? Obviously, if that is true, he is logistically impaired. Did he leave Franklin House travel along Lincolnway to Joliet Road to Hayes-Leonard south to 30? That is not logistically nor fiscally responsible with regard to fuel economy. He should have headed east bound on Indiana to Napoleon and headed south to 30 on Horseprairie and possibly he would have seen the road closure sooner. However, that would not allow the rest of us to have so much to say about him. Karma is a bite in the pants...isn't it!

- I went to Kelly's funeral. My daughter was a friend of her and her sisters. I was in a horrible place in my own life. And, it got worse for me. This further spiraled my own depression. What we don't realize as a world is how our actions affect so many others. I do hope this young lady is able to put her life back on track. I don't wish her bad. I hope she is able to reach others and help them understand how just one simple act of careless behavior which can seem so innocent and fun can cause harm in so many ways. This accident and attending that funeral was the final straw that sent me spiraling and I didn't even know the families other than friends of my daughter. I wish all involved the ability to move forward...somehow I found it.

- To MunsterMom....I find it curious that you claim to not be a member of this church, however, you refer to the former Pastor as "Brother Hyles" only members would refer to someone in that manner. I suggest you be more honest!
