They have to create blanket rules like this thanks to the people who don't understand how germs work or just have no regard for others' health. A good majority of the public doesn't seem to understand that an annoying flu to them could kill a small child or elderly person.

I'll gladly wear a mask rather than transmit the flu to someone with a compromised immune system. It's common sense and basic thoughtfulness for others.
