The real reason for this TOLLROAD is to put a major road past the proposed Peotone airport (another white elephant). Airline executives have already stated they will not use any Peotone airport. Illinois is already broke with over 90 billion and counting in unpaid pension liabilities. They raised their income tax to 5% and have not used any of that money to pay day to day bills which is what it was supposed to be used for. They have had their credit rating lowered again and are among the worst credit risk states in the nation. Why would anyone partnership with them? Would it have anything to do with the way they run the state. Last 2 governors sent off to prison. Area congressman awaiting prison. Bribes and corruption evidently is the name of the game.
The Federal governmnt is broke so why would they throw money after this? They won't thus the "private/public" partnership which will make it a TOLLROAD.
Indiana is hardly even represented on this road. All correspondence goes to IDOT (Illinois) none to INDOT (Indiana). When you see a map that shows all roads east of St rd 55 being closed and the gravel/dirt road west of St rd 55 still undecided to be open or closed, you know that evidently these so called "planners" haven't even been in the area. Google maps can only get you so far. 7 of 12 north/south road closures in Indiana. Where is that traffic supposed to go? They haven't listened from day one.
If the goal is to reduce I80/94 truck traffic then widen State Road 10 in Indiana which truckers already use. Continue the road in Illinois south of Momence and link up to IL 17 which is alread a 4 lane divided highway with an interchange on I-57.
The NO-BUILD option is the only one that makes sense.
