- Looks like the bottom line is the decision was made and it is a done deal. My thought is that if you want a zip line or hockey rink or what have you in the town of SAINT JOHN then you would have to do what the Atkin's family did. Follow the rules and regulations of the town and adhere to the stipulations put upon these "courts". The ordinance was only put in to effect 2 years ago to deter people from being able to"light up" the neighborhood or be excessive in their yards. That is why we have these meetings available as taxpayers and are allowed to be heard. Speaking of being allowed to be heard, I see that many posts have been removed from earlier and some I understand why. But if you have no problem having your NAME on public record opposing this exemption and then badmouthing this family's children about an accidental 911 call during an argument between a 14 year old and his 11 year old sister then why be upset now to have your name out there? This person had no qualms using the Atkin's name while telling outright LIES at least the public here on the message board is telling the truth when they use his name. Oh well, looks like freedom of speech isn't free after all. Dangerous uncovered, unmonitored pools....parties with D.J's until all hours, fireworks and lies.... I think maybe the Atkin's family may have won the battle but having that kind or neighbor feels like losing the war...

- Sports Guy, Dr. P and Rob M...clearly you did not take the time to go to a meeting on this issue or even read up on the specifics. I however did get the notes.minutes regarding the meeting after getting my paper this morning. This is not at all a "sport's court", it is not even a "basketball court", it is clearly just a "shooting pad" as stated seeing that there is only 1 hoop involved. Really Sports Guy, he is "opening up the 1 lone hoop daily for games and training"? That is such a ridiculous statement...and please inform me where the many public parks and hoops are in the town of Saint John? Is it located by Saint John's Public pool perhaps. The one lone neighbor objecting is not even from the State of Indiana he is originally from Illinois unlike the petitioner who's family and extended family have paid taxes in Northwest Indiana for 30 plus years. And are you really silly enough to compare one hoop on a concrete platform to a batting cage or a skateboard park? Come on!!! Not even close. Lake Hills itself HAS approved this minimal pad and has many other actual courts in their "peaceful neighborhood". It is hard for me as a parent, homeowner, taxpayer and just a resident in general to understand why everyone is wasting time and money over this issue especially since this ordinance in reality does not even apply realistically as this is not a Sports Court at all. What a waste. I have so many neighbors with huge in the ground as well as out of the ground pools on every side, this is way more of an eye sore and the noise is constant but that is sometimes what being in a neighborhood with good people consists of. Finally, for those of you that state that "the ordinance is in place for a reason" are correct...the reason, from what I discovered, is that in 2009 1 family made a huge stink because one of their neighbors put a very large full sport court in and they did not appreciate looking at it in "their" backyard...Her's a tip, just because your property backs up to someone else's land and you have to look into their yard. Does not make it YOURS....go buy acreage in the country not a lot in a neighborhood:) Meanwhile their children have since played on that court themselves.

- BadCoaching, I totally get & respect your comments and I get it.....it is obvious that there are some coaching issues and bad decisions were made. But seriously it is also obvious the LCSBFAN has his or her own agenda and has a jealousy issue or personal issue with the freshman girl Novak (who I by the way thought kicked major butt this season as a freshman) and her step dad. I am assuming from above comments by the other LCSBGDF that the stepfather is the "Spained" guy? My question to LCSBFAN or anyone else is, if you have such a problem with the "Spained" or "Spain" guy then why not let em drop and have the guts to say your real name and make the "accusations" to his face? not on a message board like a coward. Like 1sbfan I am 100% sure that neither Mr. Spained or any other parent bought LC's uniforms. I mean, come on now...get a grip on yourself. And is someone else implying the family has lied about Novak's age in the past? What is the "is she the same she's 14 girl"? And according to the "rumors" I have heard about the guy, he is a great coach and a great dad(step or otherwise) and a good guy in general.... Some of these parents just seem jealous to me. You can say what you want about the coaches for LC it is their job to take the heat if they deserve it but these kids are not professional ball players for goodness sake, they have enough to be insecure about as teenage girls right? And the parents, are just that...adults that love and want the best for their kids. LCSBFAN, I hope you are secretly a kid/teenager and not just an adult green with envy. That would help me sleep better at night. If not, 2 words of advice...GROW UP....

- I got word through a friend of a friend that I had to read some of these posts because they were so pathetic, LOL. I almost thought it had to be a joke! Are these really grown as-adults posting these things? The only post that makes any sense is the softballfan one. I am with them. Get a life people. If you are so mad or jealous about other players then take your own darn kids out and have them work as hard as some of these other players are working. Is it their fault or their parents and coaches fault that they are better than your kids cause they actually work for it. Parents can only do so much people, ultimately it is up to the kids to work harder. Here is a novel idea, how about teaching all your kids some humility and teach them to accept reality. Instead they get to see adults ripping on other adults like grade schoolers. Another question, say this guy did take his kid to hit with older girls when she was young, sounds like a great idea to me! Is that a problem. Guess what, I could take my niece to hit with high school girls every darn day and I guarentee she still couldn't hit a ball cause just aint got the natural talent. It is what it is......Some kids are always going to be more naturally talented or harder working than other kids, period. And guess what maybe the "Step Dad" has the right idea and you "biological dads" should take note. Seriously people.....don't waste time typing comments when you could have your at the batting cages instead. Ziggys is open all day. P.s. I think some LC playas are actually giving lessons....just sayin
