  1. Since this is my last chance to comment, I still stick to my convictions:
    >LC politicians, be easy on your employers, the taxpayers. Be gentle with the new income tax
    >No empty buses
    >Equitable school funding

  2. I must agree about the opinion of the comment section being removed, in part, to appease some politicians. I never liked comments that contained falsehoods, lies and hearsay. I always enjoyed questions about incomplete stories.
One story that I looked for comments on was the LC911 issue.
It's not available on line on a mobile device.
Best of luck to all. Enjoy the summer if it ever gets here.

  3. All of these elected officials are pushing for this tax.
    Several questions come to mind.
What about those folks that live in state, but not in LC?
    Which tax do they pay?
What about out of state people?
If you tax anyone that WORKS in LC, then it’s an Employment Tax, not Income.
Gary officials always complain of high unemployment.
Is Gary looking for this to subsidize their woeful tax collection rate?
Poor municipal tax collection rates is a local issue, keep it that way.
I don’t deny this tax is coming, but, it should be to reduce my Real Estate Taxes.

  4. Well the tax is going to happen.
The language about relief for property taxes is interesting. In order for this to be equitable, this must not be used to "replace" the tax, it must be used to help. I think the only fair way to distribute this tax, is to tie it to the tax collection rate by taxing district. Otherwise the taxes would go into a big pot and split up. This is not equitable.

  5. At this point, they can continue to travel. Maybe keep it to a minimum though. Maybe even stay in the country. It does cost big bucks for security, even more when you leave the country. When the pres golfed with Tiger, it cost the locals almost 80,000 in OT for the local law enforcement. This sequester sure hasn't hit BO & MO yet

  7. While gun control is one thing, that is not going to solve the problem.
When there is a shooting, any witnesses must come forward. This "code of silence" is not helping. Give up the shooters already. This should also be real time in a prison sentence, not 10 years and out in 5 for good behavior. Put some teeth in the sentence.

  8. This tax is going to happen in one way shape or form. Face it.
I think it should be applied for real estate tax relief first, as originally put into law.
However, it would also like to see it given to the taxing entities based on tax collection rate.
This might help some of the cities/towns push their residents to pay their taxes.
Kind of like a dangling carrot.
March 21, 2013 8:48 am on No consensus yet in Lake income tax debate at Statehouse

  9. If this is an Income Tax, then the larger percentage should go to the city/town of residence for the tax payer.
Or is it to be divided up by city of employment? If so, then it becomes an employment tax.

The distribution formula must also take into consideration the tax collection rate for real estate taxes by locale.
This must not be something to offset poor collection rates on real estate taxes.
This must not be something to offset poor collection rates on real estate taxes.
I have an issue with subsidizing those that can't or won’t pay for their own government provided services.
