  1. My prayers go out to this man's family. Unfortunately, this man made a bad decision to drinking and driving and paid for it with his life. Luckily, the other drivers weren't injured, because this always isn't the case. I have losed a loved one to a drunk driver and know what it is to go through the pain of losing and hope the wife and child can get through this.

  2. Portage mom....I'm praying for your family for peace and healing. I know exactly where you are as far as it being a nightmare. I lost my loved one to a drunk driver whom only served two years for murdering him. We sat in the Porter County Courthouse once a month for a year and half until the offender was sentenced. I hold on knowing that God will prevail since the justice system failed.

  3. First off, 0.128 is enough to kill someone. How do I know because I had a family member killed by a drunk driver whom had a blood level of 0.12. He pulled in front of my family member and killed him instantly. The alcohol impaired his judgment and this is exactly what happened here. Yes, the mother may have pulled in front of him, but he was drinking and driving and could have possibly killed someone down the road. You wouldn't say it this if it was one of your loved ones effected by this.

I pray for this little girl that she heals.

  4. Wow...way to go Mr. Bennett. You let the scumbag get off again. We all know that this jerk was probably invading the privacy of his ex and got to her again like he did before he was sentenced in the DUI death of Lance Stroobandt. He got to her and she dropped the charges of federal intimidation so his plea bargain wouldn't go away before sentencing in the DUI death. While Lance's family after four years of losing him are still mourning him everyday. His children are still without a dad in a time that they really need him there. Yeah, you did a great thing there Mr. Bennett. Way to work for the defendants and not the victims!!!!!! Porter County is a freaking joke!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. All they could have got him with right after the accident was a misdeamoner because they didn't have the blood results back yet. He could have bonded out even if they sent him straigt to jail. This is why it took them a month to charge him with what they had. I know this all to well, because this is what happened to my loved one's killer. It was a lengthy process. The prosecutor will do his job according to the law as well as the judge. If Judge Alevizos is the judge, he will make sure that this guy if found guilty will serve his time. My loved one's killer received two years and he was drinking and driving and was well over the legal limit. I hope for the sake of the family that this guy gets everything he deserves. All of the victims were innocent. One life taken and two beautiful girls whose lives will never be the same. My thought and prayers to the victims families.

  6. You are really a piece of work. First off, Long Beach is for the rich who think they should get away with murder. The police officers and town employees take abuse from the Illinois people who stay here only in the summer and are under paid. Second, they are underage and what would have happened if those juveniles decided to leave the party drunk, and got into a car and killed one of your loved ones? You would be crying something different. I have lost loved ones to drunk drivers, because they were just partying having a good time and harming nobody. So, what until one time they kill you or your loved ones and I will make sure to say they were only partiers having a good time causing harm to noone.

  7. Finally, a judge that is taking a stand against drunk drivers. He is looking out for the innocent people on the roads. I hope the victim in this case gets everything that is owed to her. She deserves that and more. The defendant needs to rot in jail.

  8. Everyone is saying she should't be punished for her recklessness, but the young girl who died her family is being punished for the rest of their lives for which this girl caused. The family has to live without their daughter, sister, niece while the young girl who killed her gets to walk free sooner or later and gets to live her life. Yes, she will have to live with killing her friend, but she gets to get married, have a family and do all the things that her friend doesn't get to do. Her family also gets to have her home with them. I'm sorry that she will have to do some time and be a felon for the rest of her life, but not really because I live daily without my loved one. Someone decided to take their life with their truck back in 2008. So, sorry that some of us don't feel sorry for her.
