  4. The amount of time, effort and money that has been spent to perform the necessary studies and planning to continue to move this project forward is evidence that it is needed. This project is not politically motivated as we know it has received support and opposition from both sides yet it continues to move forward because of the need for it. Those who will be affected by the Illiana should be compensated fairly, no question. Infrastructure will be key to economic growth and stability in NWI (good point MunsterGuy), no question. I would ask Ms. Silkas for a little more proof that, "It's not needed.It's not wanted." I think it may not be wanted by some but the proof provided by INDOT is that it certainly is needed.

    To J Bird; No argument from me on your point but we have seen the improvements at the 80/94 & I65 interchange, the widening of I65 south of the 80/94 interchange, the Cline Ave. project (long overdue, no doubt) and now the 9 Span Bridge is being revamped. We certainly need to maintain what is in place. Building new will reduce traffic flow, hence, less wear and tear on the current roads and allow for easier control of the traffic when the needed repairs are being done.
