I would love for you to spend a week in my classroom and see if you could handle it. We now have to clean our classrooms because custodial staff was cut due to funding. Now we're using that funding to give raises to administration? We tutor students in the morning per our contract for no extra money. I get to school at 7 am and work until about 6. Then, I go home and work more until 9 or 10. You are saying that we shouldn't be upset that we are being screwed over? Everyday I am thankful for the job I have; however, am I thankful that I have 2 college degrees and won't make over 35,000?? Am I thankful that I cannot afford to buy a home of my own? Absolutely not. Before you say that teachers are being irrational for wanting to be appreciated and rewarded for our time, you should spend a day at a school and see what its really like in a public school these days.
