Lee’s operations are located in attractive communities, many in spectacular settings, and our employee benefits are among the best anywhere.

Employee benefits

We offer some of the best benefit programs in our industry. We recognize that employees have varying needs, so we have developed a program with options to allow our employees to choose what is right for them.

We offer a variety of options for medical, dental, vision and life insurance. We offer one of the best retirement account plans in our industry with a range of investment options. We also offer healthcare and dependent care flexible spending accounts, vacation, time off, and company-paid short-term and long-term disability benefits.

Employee development and achievement

As part of Lee Enterprises, one of our top prioritiesis to "Nurture employee development and achievement." We seek to help employees develop essential skills in our many functional areas, including journalism, sales, circulation and finance. We also seek to prepare our employees for success through training in leadership, our business, teamwork, respect, diversity and safety.

More than that, we believe that learning isn’t trapped in binders in the classroom. Although we do offer quality structured classroom and online training, we emphasize internal cross-training, outside exposure and developmental assignments. Some learning opportunities are presented by the corporate staff. Other opportunities are developed and delivered locally. Many locations offer partial tuition reimbursement for completing a degree program.

Every employee has the opportunity be proactive in improving personal performance and to apply for open positions. Managers meet regularly with employees to create and review individual performance plans, share feedback, coach and review progress toward career development.

How do I submit a resume?

Each job posting you view will have a button at the bottom that will allow you to add the position to your "Job Cart." When you are ready to apply, view your job cart and click the "Apply to All Jobs in Cart" button at the bottom. Fill in the required information on the online response form. Click submit, and your resume will become part of our searchable database. Submitting your resume more than once for the same position will not increase your chances of being contacted.

Why do I have to submit my resume electronically?

Resumes received via the online response form reach the database almost instantaneously, while paper submittals take much longer to process. You could miss the window of opportunity for a position because of the processing delay.

Why should I provide a profile?

The "My Career Center" feature allows you to create a job profile. You are not required to create a job profile to apply for an open position, but here's the advantage: Creating a job profile enables you to track the jobs you have applied for and to update your resume and/or contact information whenever you would like to do so. In addition, once you have created a job profile, you can apply for job openings simply by logging in to My Career Center with an email address and password, selecting the job you are interested in, and "Submit."

What is a "source" and why am I required to select one?

The source is where you saw the position advertised or where you heard about it. This information helps shape future recruitment efforts.

I'd like to be able to include a cover letter with my resume, addressed to the appropriate individual. How can I find out the name of the appropriate individual?

All resumes are received in a central database. It is not necessary to address a cover letter to a specific individual. If you would like to include a cover letter, you can paste it in the resume text field after the text of your resume or in the cover letter box.

Why am I prompted to fill out additional information when I apply for some employment opportunities but not for others?

If there are additional requirements for a specific position, screening questions will be included at the end of the "Submit Resume" page. These questions help determine whether you are a strong match. Regardless, your resume will still enter the searchable database and may be considered for another position.

I tried to submit my resume using the online response form but the Web page indicated there was an error. What should I do?

Please make sure your browser is IE 6.0 or greater and that you have enabled cookies and JavaScript.

I submitted my resume to you, and now need to make changes. What should I do?

If you want to revise your resume, please log in to My Career Center with your email address and password. There, you can revise your information.

How do I know if you received my resume via the online response form?

You will receive a confirmation message on the site that confirms your resume has been successfully submitted. You will receive a followup email.

Will I be notified if the job is filled or if I make it to the next step in the interview process?

If you received the confirmation message after submitting your resume, you can be sure your resume was received. If your skills and qualifications strongly match, a representative will contact you. Because of the high volume of submittals, however, only the candidates whose skills and qualifications most closely suit current needs will be contacted.

Can I apply to more than one position at a time?

Yes, the "Job Cart" feature allows you to apply to more than one job at one time. Simply click "Add to Job Cart" whenever you see a job you are interested in. When you are ready to apply, log in and follow the application process.

What if a position I am interested in is not found on the careers page? Can I submit a resume anyway?

Sure. Your resume will be available in the database for future consideration. You can also sign up for Job Alerts and receive notification via email whenever a new posting opens in the job category that you selected. You are able to unsubscribe at any time.

What is the "Refer a Friend" feature?

This feature allows you to email a job description to a friend who might be interested in an open position. There is a "Refer a Friend" button at the bottom of each job posting.
