Geminus Head Start Corporation is currently seeking Lead and Associate Teachers for the 2018-2019
Head Start Program. Geminus was established in 1992 and offers innovative concepts, providing
comprehensive support services, human resources, communications, purchasing, accounting,
finance, client billing, and management information systems, for affiliated organizations that provides
behavioral healthcare and human services. Geminus is located in Merrillville, Indiana and is affiliated
with Regional Mental Health Center, Geminus Head Start, and the Lake Park Residential Care,
together these organizations employ approximately 750 employees throughout the Porter and Lake
County area of Indiana.

tHE PoSItIoN:
Lead Teacher is responsible for the care and education of a group of children as a part of a teaching
team. This Lead Teacher is responsible to plan and implement the curriculum in accordance with
the Head Start Performance Standards, Indiana Academic Foundations, Head Start Outcomes
Framework, as well as, utilizing the Developmentally Appropriate Effective Practices as defined by
the National Association of Young Children (NAEYC) and preparedness of school readiness. This
position requires active participation with the children, families, other members of the teaching team,
as well as, various Head Start staff, to assess and address the needs of individual children. This
position will work closely with the Child Development Manager both in Head Start and Early Head
Start for child outcomes. The Lead Teacher is expected to present a positive and professional image
of Geminus and the Head Start Division, and actively and effectively participate on committees and
work teams as requested.

rEqUIrEMENtS:
Lead Teacher:

BA in Early Childhood/Development is required and three years of
classroom experience with preschoolers in a licensed child care center
based program, or Head Start program, or public schools preferred.
Spanish speaking preferred.

Associate Teacher:

AA Degree in Early Childhood/Development is required and three years of
classroom experience with preschoolers in a licensed child care center
based program, or Head Start program, or public schools preferred.
Spanish speaking preferred.
