VALPARAISO | Young achievers well on their way to promising careers will be honored by the Northwest Indiana Works Council.
A recognition reception will take place from 5:30 to 7 p.m., May 28, to honor "21 Under 21" young career stars at Ivy Tech Community College, 3100 Ivy Tech Drive, Valparaiso.
The 21 young people to be honored that night are high school seniors or recent grads who were nominated from Career & Technical Education programs across Northwest Indiana.
The students nominated are well on their way to careers in engineering, machine technology, health care, criminal justice and other fields. All are expected to move on to work in high-demand, high-wage careers. All of them have already exemplified outstanding leadership, teamwork and achievement.
The Northwest Indiana Works Council is one of 11 in the state created by state statute in 2013 at the request of Gov. Mike Pence to further technical training for young people whether they go to college, learn a trade, or start their career right out of high school.
