Fort Wayne-based Steel Dynamics Inc. (Nasdaq: STLD) has announced an agreement to acquire Alabama-based Vulcan Threaded Products Inc. The deal is valued at $126 million and is expected to be complete in August. Vulcan makes threaded rod and metal bar products. Steel Dynamics CEO Mark Millett says the acquisition is part of a strategy rolled out last year to pursue "higher-margin downstream business opportunities" to boost growth.
Indiana RV blockbuster
Elkhart-based Thor Industries Inc. (NYSE: THO) has announced the acquisition of another of the biggest names in the recreational vehicle industry. The $576 million deal makes Middlebury-based Jayco Corp. a Thor subsidiary.
Indy, Purdue communities remembering Jim Dora
An influential figure in the shaping of downtown Indianapolis has died. Jim Dora, who spent 22 years on the city's Capital Improvement Board of Managers, founded and chaired General Hotels Corp. The company was a developer and operator of multiple high-profile properties, including the Crowne Plaza Holiday Inn at Union Station. Dora was 80.
IRT staying put
The Indiana Repertory Theatre has signed a long-term lease extension with the city of Indianapolis. Mayor Joe Hogsett's office says the deal will save taxpayers $2.5 million over 10 years.

Ground broken on Evansville RAD projects
Indianapolis-based Flaherty & Collins Properties and the Evansville Housing Authority have broken ground on two Rental Assistance Demonstration projects totaling $18 million, which will provide public housing for seniors. Nearly 900 units will be rehabilitated throughout the city.
Reid Health, Community Health Network teaming up
Richmond-based Reid Health is partnering with Indianapolis-based Community Health Network to bring a new patient and care management system to Reid patients. The system, which is expected to take up to two years to implement, will give patients access to care management and medical record information.
Hoosier companies land Navy contracts
The United States Navy has awarded business to more than 600 contractors throughout the country, including seven in Indiana. Specific numbers for each contract were not released, but the government estimates a maximum of nearly $4 billion in services will be performed each year. The Indiana companies receiving contracts include: 5D Analytics LLC, in Bedford; American Structurepoint, in Indianapolis; Communications Products Inc., in Indianapolis; Odyssian Technology LLC, in South Bend; STLogistics, in Indianapolis; Strategic Technical Services LLC, in Carmel; and Tessa Two Inc., in Indianapolis.
Jeco Plastics names president
Plainfield-based Jeco Plastic Products has selected Kent Anderson as president. Anderson previously served as vice president of business development at the Indiana Economic Development Corp. and executive director of the Columbus Area Metropolitan Planning Organization.
