2016 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid

Bold styling and spirited power fronts the all-new 2016 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid.

Japanese auto giant Toyota adds an eighth model to its gasoline-electric product portfolio with the 2016 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid.

Since its introduction in 1994, the compact Toyota RAV4 sport utility has sold 2.4 million units in the U.S.

Now in its fourth generation, the 2016 RAV4 receives a refreshed front-end design that reflects the styling cues of Toyota’s passenger cars, while bold new LED tail lamps dominate its tall sculpted rear fascia.

The RAV4 Hybrid enters 2016 accompanied by the sporty new RAV4 SE model that showcases unique 18-inch wheels, blacked-out mesh grille and available silver body cladding.

RAV4 SE is also equipped with a sport-tuned suspension and performance tires.

The front-drive RAV4 SE joins LE, XLE and Limited trim levels powered by a 2.5 liter 4-cylinder engine that builds 176 horsepower coupled to a six-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive is available.

The 2016 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid teams the 2.5L gasoline engine with front- and rear-axle electric motors for a combined 194 horsepower to yield 34 mpg/city and 31 mpg/hwy.

All-wheel drive with “intelligence” is the sole drivetrain for the RAV4 Hybrid managed by a continuously variable transmission.

With AWD-i, power is dedicated to the front wheels under normal driving conditions. When loss of traction or stability is detected the rear electric motor engages to send torque to the back wheels for added grip.

Hill Start Assist and rear vision camera is standard across the 2016 RAV4 lineup.

Inside, five occupants enjoy an upgraded cabin that features soft touch surfaces on the door panels and center console with standard Entune infotainment system along with navigation depending on model.

Quarters are roomy for four adults. When unoccupied, the second row folds down, although not flat, to create over 70 cubic feet of carrying capacity.

The cargo floor is adjustable and reached by an available power operated rear hatch lid.

Price for the base 2016 Toyota RAV4 LE begins at $24,350. The new Hybrid model starts at $28,370, followed by SE for $29,265.
