New owner acquires Northwest Indiana's Caterpillar dealer

A new owner has acquired the Caterpillar dealership for Northwest Indiana and Northern Illinois.

A new owner has acquired Patten Industries, Inc., the Caterpillar dealer in Northwest Indiana and northern Illinois.

Altorfer Holdings, Inc., the Caterpillar dealer in eastern Iowa, northeast Missouri and central Illinois, acquired the Region dealership that serves the construction, agriculture, landscaping, manufacturing and material handling industries for an undisclosed sum, further expanding its territory.

“I am excited and humbled by the opportunity to welcome the dedicated employees of Patten Industries into the Altorfer family," President Derek Altorfer said. "Together we will build upon the traditions of both companies in addition to providing a level of customer service unmatched by anyone else."

The 61-year-old Cedar Rapids-based dealership sells and rents a wide array of Caterpillar vehicles, including excavators, bulldozers, asphalt pavers, skidders, pipelayers, wheel loaders, draglines and tractors.
