Northern Indiana Bank on Economic Inclusion Summit to focus on underserved


The Northern Indiana Bank On Alliance's summit at Indiana University Northwest next week will focus on ensuring underserved residents throughout the Region can get access to safe and affordable financial products.

"Northern Indiana Bank on Economic Inclusion Summit: A Financial Landscape and Stability Discussion" will take place from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at IUN, 3400 Broadway in Gary.

"Come learn how your involvement can address community challenges and improve the lives of underserved residents," Centier Bank said in a news release. "Hear about the federal and local financial landscape affecting Northern Indiana residents. The summit will cover the topics of economic inclusion, building credit, banking services and financial education."

Speakers include Centier Community Relations and Financial Capabilities Officer Dian Reyome; Porter County United Way President and CEO Kim Olesker; Indiana University Northwest Chancellor William Lowe; Gary Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson; FDIC Community Affairs Specialist Jenny Dandridge; Purdue Extension Porter County Annetta Jones; Cities for Financial Empowerment Principal Kant Desai; Peoples Bank Gary Banking Manager Diane Dalton; 1st Source Bank VP Community Development Manager Mark Gould; Chase Gary Branch Manager Tamara Berry; Lake Area United Way President and CEO Lisa Daugherty; and Consumer Credit Counseling of Northwest Indiana Director Phillip Snorden.

The alliance consists of 32 different banks and community partners, including the United Way, in Lake, Porter, LaPorte, St. Joseph and Elkhart counties.
