MUNSTER — Joe Battistoni has been appointed general manager of The Times Media Co., a position that will have him play a key leadership role in the company's business operations and in its engagement with the community.

Battistoni joined The Times in 2014 and has served as vice president of sales and marketing since 2015. Publisher Chris White announced Battistoni's promotion last week. 

"Joe is a very talented professional who's been responsible for much of the success we've achieved over the last four years," White said. "In this larger role I know I can count on Joe to help us grow and thrive."

White, who also oversees Lee Enterprises properties in Iowa and Wisconsin as a group publisher, said Battistoni will continue as Times vice president of sales and marketing, and will now work more closely with the circulation and operations departments. 

Battistoni said he looks forward to his expanded role.

"I'm thrilled to take on additional responsibilities with the leading media company in an area poised for so much growth and so much positive change," Battistoni said. "I'm excited for The Times to continue to play a pivotal role in that change."

Battistoni noted the growth in internet-related activity at The Times, including at its in-house marketing agency, Amplified, which offers website development, online marketing, direct mail and other services.

"As our business evolves, our clients continue to want more digital opportunities," Battistoni said. "Continuing to invest there and continuing to deliver the best print product will offer the best full-service solution in Northwest Indiana."
