Forbes named NiSource one of America's best employers

The NiSource Inc. headquarters is shown on 86th Avenue, in Merrillville. NiSource was ranked as one of America's top employers by Forbes Magazine.

Forbes Magazine named Merrillville-based NiSource one of the top employers nationally for the second consecutive year.

The $7.1 billion energy utility, which employs more than 8,000 workers, ranked 61st nationally on Forbes' list of "America's Best Employers." NiSource was the highest rated utility.

“We are truly honored to be included alongside some of America’s most recognized and trusted brands,” NiSource President and CEO Joseph Hamrock said. “Recognition like this reinforces, and helps spread the word about, something we already know is true at NiSource — that working together to serve our customers and communities, our 8,000 employees are creating a great place to work, grow and build a career.”

Every year, Forbes ranks the top 500 employers nationally by doing an independent, anonymous online survey of nearly 30,000 workers. The top three this year were Costco, Google and REI.
