U.S. Department of Labor official to address Gary Chamber

The Gary Chamber of Commerce’s Business Awards Appreciation reception drew a packed house last June at the Diamond Center at The U.S. Steel Yard, home of the RailCats, in Gary. A Department of Labor official will address the group next week.

An official with the U.S. Department of Labor will address the Gary Chamber of Commerce next week.

Christine Quinn, regional administrator of the department's Employment and Training Administration, works out of the federal agency's Region 5 Chicago office.

"Quinn provides leadership to and oversight for 10 Midwestern states with their workforce development systems for employers, youth, and adults," the chamber said in a press release. "She will discuss some of her workforce initiatives and programs for the communities here in Northwest Indiana."

The Gary Chamber of Commerce's monthly general membership meeting takes place at 12 p.m. Monday at The Gary SouthShore RailCats Administration Building, 2nd Floor, One Stadium Plaza, Gary. Networking starts at 11:30 a.m.
