BP economist to address Lakeshore Chamber of Commerce

If you're hoping for insights on the future of energy and what it mean for Northwest Indiana's oil refining sector, mark your calendar for July 11.

Mark Finley, general manager of Global Energy Markets and U.S. Economics at BP, will address the Lakeshore Chamber of Commerce at Dynasty Banquets at 4125 Calumet Ave. in Hammond on that Wednesday.

He'll give BP's 2018 Energy Outlook from noon to 1 p.m., with a question and answer session following the presentation. Chamber networking starts at 11:30 a.m.

BP, which operates the BP Whiting Refinery and is one of North Lake County's largest employers, issues the annual report that analyzes energy use globally over the past year and out through 2040. This year's report predicts a greater rise of renewable energy sources, which are expected to account for nearly 40 percent of all energy production within a few decades.
