Ruth and Del Cathey celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on April 10. They were married at the First Baptist Church in Hammond on April 10, 1948. There will be celebration with family and friends at a private party April 15, 2018.
They have three daughters, Jodee Trujillo (Robert), Cindy Bertram and Laurie Thomas (the late George). They are the proud grandparents of four grandchildren, Andrew Trujillo, Doug (Erin) Trujillo, Grace Thomas and Yvette Thomas.
Del served in the US Army prior to their marriage, and was employed by VanTil's Supermarket in Hammond. He is currently employed by Strack and Van Til. Ruth was employed with VanTil supermarket, and Wise Way Foods as bookkeeper.
They lived in Schererville before moving to Crown Point.
They were members of the First Baptist Church in Hammond, Griffith Baptist Church in Griffith and are currently members of Lake Hills Baptist Church in Schererville,.
Ruth and Del owned many business throughout the years, including Mrs. Cathey's Kitchen in Schererville, Dairy Queen Brazier in Miller, and Eagle Travel in Merrillville.
They have enjoyed traveling the world, gardening and their family and friends.
