Crown Point's Col. John Wheeler, who commanded the 20th Indiana Volunteer Infantry during the Civil War, died 152 years ago today at the Battle of Gettysburg. Gettysburg was the bloodiest battle of America's bloodiest war, and Wheeler died on July 2, 1863, which was the bloodiest of the three-day battle. This gallery shows photos of efforts to honor Wheeler's sacrifice during the past four years, which marked the 150th anniversary of the Civil War.
