Charles Reeves, a man of many talents and roles, has bid farewell to this world. Born in East Chicago, Indiana on June 30th, 1944, Charles's journey came to a peaceful end on February 26th, 2024, in Dallas, Texas. Charles's memories will be forever cherished in the hearts of: wife, Dr. Lula Reeves of Desoto, TX; sons, Anthony Reeves of Desoto, TX & Alvin Reeves Sr. of Gary, IN; Grandchildren Asia'Na Reeves of Gary, IN, Demond Reeves of Dallas, TX, Alexis Reeves of Mesa, AZ, and Dorea Henderson of Garland, TX; Great-grandchildren: Selaya Reeves, Amiyah Wright and Andrea Wright; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and a numerous amount of great friends. He will have a wake service on Sunday, March 3, 2024 at 5:30 PM and funeral service on Monday, March 4, 2024 at 11:00 AM, both services held at Golden Gate Funeral Home — Dallas, TX. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 9 from 1:00 -6:00 PM at Riley Park Pavilion - 11005 E. Chicago — East Chicago, IN 46312.

VALPARAISO, IN — Arthur Edmond “Red” Kunow, 83 of Valparaiso, passed away Sunday, February 25, 2024, after a hard-fought battle with lung cancer.
He was born September 17,1940, in Hammond, IN, to the late Arthur E. and Evelyn (Grunewald) Kunow. Entering the Navy on his own accord, he was graduate of Great Lakes Naval Training Center, where he was appointed master-at-arms. Red worked as a tool and layout inspector, skilled laborer, and journeyman at Ford Motor Company, working for 32 years and retiring in 1991. He was a member of the UAW 538, where Red served as a local union representative.
In retirement, he devoted more time to his love of music by becoming a member of the Valparaiso University Community Band, playing the euphonium and was a member of the local German Band. Red also spent time writing poetry and traveling with his wife, Barbara Kienbaum, PHD. While Barabara was teaching in Germany, Red enjoyed learning and became fluent in the German language.
Arthur is survived by his loving wife, Barabara E. Kienbaum; sons: Douglas and Jason Kunow; Grandson, Troy; and sister, Deborah (Bob) Juergens. He was preceded in death by his parents; and three sisters: Loraine, Arlene, and Ruth.
A private gathering of friends and family will be held in remembrance of Arthur.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: VNA Hospice of NWI, Gabriel’s Home of Valparaiso, or any organization that supports and helps humanity.

COLUMBUS, IN — Dwight David Hayes, 81 of Columbus, IN, and formerly of LaCrosse and Lynn, IN, went home to be with the Lord on February 27, 2024, after a brief illness, surrounded by his family.
He was born December 13, 1942, in LaCrosse, IN, to Philip and Lida Benham Hayes. He graduated from LaCrosse High School in 1961. Dwight worked at Thermogas (Lynn, IN), Harvest Land Co-op (Lynn, IN), and Rightway Fasteners (Columbus, IN). He and Carol owned the IGA in Lynn from 1981 to 1983. Dwight was a member of the Lynn Volunteer Fire Department as well as the Lynn Lions Club. Dwight was a current member of Grace Lutheran Church (Columbus, IN). He enjoyed spending time traveling with Carol, fishing, and enjoying time with his grand and great-grandchildren.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted wife of 60 years, Carol Sue (Welkie) Hayes, whom he married on February 1, 1964 at St. John's EV Lutheran Church in Wanatah, IN; son, Greg (Krista) Hayes of Lynn, IN; daughter, Julie (Mike) Bushong of Montezuma, IA; grandchildren: Chastity Bushong of De Moines, IA, Joshua (Nicole) Hayes of Freetown, IN, Shawn Van Rheenen (Brook Blackwell) of Oskaloosa, IA, Christopher (Jaclyn) Hayes of Williamsburg, IN, Jamie (Tommy) Van Renterghem of Oskaloosa, I A, John Bedel of Lynn, IN, Matthew (Briena) Bedel of Connersville, IN, and Kalee Hayes of Lynn, IN; great-grandchildren: Jace Towne, Brooklyn Hayes, AJ Axsom, Dakota Hayes, Banx and Bond Blackwell, Addyson and Easton Hayes, Layton, Caroline, and Gatlin Van Renterghem, Hunter Yarbrough, Graham and Spencer Ferguson, and Alayna Bedel; great-great-grandchildren: Everleigh and (soon to be) Blakeleigh Temple; bonus family: Diane, Tom, Emmett, Dalton, and Alice Doddridge; and many, many special nieces, nephews, and friends. Dwight was proceeded in death by his parents; in-laws, Kenneth and Ruth Welkie; and siblings: Grant Hayes, LaVerne Martin, Marie Dewey, Eunice Trumbo, Marguerite Bryarly, Inez Jenks, Eugene Hayes, Stanley Hayes, Earl Hayes, Edith Pratt, Herbert Hayes, and Robert Hayes.
A visitation will be held on Monday, March 4, 2024, from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 15496 S. 900 W., Wanatah, IN, with a service beginning at 11:00 AM with Pastor John Armstrong officiating. Burial to follow at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Wanatah, IN.
