Immediately after setting foot on the grounds of the Lake County Fair, visitors will notice the aroma of food, glorious food.
Anyone attending the 164th version of Lake County Fair specifically for its culinary offerings will find much to choose from at the popular festival. The fair runs through Sunday at Lake County Fairgrounds in Crown Point.
Whether you want your grub fried, simmered, boiled, baked or battered, the fair has it all.
There are the old standbys such as hot dogs, corn, lemon shake-ups, funnel cakes, ice cream, popcorn and cotton candy. But there are also ethnic and regional American favorites such as Mexican fare, Southern Pulled Pork and Asian dishes.
Visitors can easily make their way across the fair grounds tasting a blend of flavors, going from savory to sweet, and gulping down assorted drinks in between. Eating your lunch or dinner meal at the festival is definitely feasible as well. Many vendors sell full meals which are ample portions and not just a bite-sized taste.
