A Year with the Frog and Toad

Based on the storybook favorite, this family musical follows the woodland adventures of two friends — a worry-wart toad and his perky frog friend. Children of all ages will be delighted with the play's whimsical score and colorful cast of characters.

LaPorte County High School Art Competition

MARCH 3-26, Southern Shore Art Association Gallery, 724 Franklin St., Michigan City. 219.879.4980. Underwritten by the Unity Foundation, this exhibit will showcase the finest examples of LaPorte County's High School artists in a variety of media.

Maple Sugar Time

Runnin' with the Irish 5K

MARCH 11, 8:30 a.m. kids fun run, 9 a.m. 5K run/walk, Indiana Dunes State Park, 1600 N. CR-25 E., Chesterton. With a course that travels along the roads of the state park, this annual race offers a half-mile fun run for kids and a 5K run and noncompetitive walk to benefit St. Patrick School in Chesterton.

Leprechaun Fun Run 5K Run/Walk

MARCH 11, 9 a.m., Crown Brewing, 211 S. East St., Crown Point. 219.663.4545. This family/pet-friendly 5K fun run benefits St. Baldrick’s Foundation. Free beer or pop and breakfast buffet will be available to run participants.

Maple Syrup Time on the Weekends

MARCH 11-12, 18-19, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Deep River County Park, 9410 Old Lincoln Highway, Hobart. 219.769.1215. Attendees can experience the sticky business of making syrup from tree sap firsthand, plus see how corn is ground into cornmeal and more.

St. Baldrick’s Merrillville

MARCH 12, noon-4 p.m., LUOE Local 150, 2193 W. 84th Place, Merrillville. 219.440.2281. Each year the people are invited to shave their head to raise funds and give hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers. Participants who do not want to shave their heads can still raise funds, volunteer or enjoy fun activities for the whole family — including a fun fair, a DJ, auctions and more.

Sesame Street Live—Make a New Friend!

St. Patrick’s Day Celebration Crown Point

Flashlight Egg Hunt
