Marilyn's Bakery in Hobart will be celebrating Pi (or Pie) Day on March 14 by offering free giveaways to the 3rd, 14th, 31st, 143rd and 314th customers that day, the bakery's Barbara Tracy said.

The 3rd customer gets a free slice of breakfast quiche; 14th gets a mini pot pie; 31st gets a small pie of his or her choice; 143rd gets a large pie of his or her choice; and 314th gets his or her order for free.

Some of the bakery's pie flavors include key lime, french silk, coconut cream, apple, blueberry and cherry. 

Marilyn's is located at 8960 E. Ridge Road in Hobart and will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Pi Day, Tracy said.

Marilyn's Bakery Pie Crust

2 cups flour

1 teaspoon salt

3/4 cup shortening or butter

1 tablespoon sugar

1 egg, whisked

1 tablespoon vinegar

1/2 cup water (as needed)

Mix flour, salt and sugar in a bowl, cut in shortening until pebbly, careful not to overtax to cookie dough. Mix egg, water and vinegar in a separate bowl. Slowly add liquid and stir with a fork until the dough comes together. Only use as much liquid as needed. Turn out to a floured table and ball together. Wrap in plastic wrap and chill. Roll as needed.
