The Northwest Indiana Food Truck Fest rolls into Crown Point this weekend, offering attendees an array of local cuisine and craft beer.

The Sizzlebox; Dogs N Hogs; Chunky's Tacos; Cute As A Cupcake; and I'scream & Cookies food trucks will take part in the pop-up festival, which will run from noon until 7 p.m. Saturday in the Industrial Building at the Lake County Fair Grounds in Crown Point. Those with VIP tickets can enter at noon, and those with general admission tickets will be allowed in at 1 p.m.

The pop-up indoor winter food truck fest is an off-shoot of the popular Northwest Indiana Food Truck Fest that took place in Portage last summer and plans to become an annual event. The full-scale festival will return this June at a location to be announced.

"We are excited about the overall response. This will be a fun event. It is not only our first indoor food truck fest, but it is also our first 21-and-over event," said Monica Jimenez-Susoreny, organizer for NWI Food Truck Fest/president of JumpStartPR. "The idea of the fest came from a brainstorm session with Sizzlebox food truck owner, Juan Serrano. The concept was based on the want to have a indoor food related festival. NWI has never had an indoor food truck fest and we wanted to bring a fun indoor event to the area during the winter, a event that also supports our local food truck community, local music and breweries/local cidery."

Wildrose, Crown Brewing, Three Floyds, Off Square and Aftermath Cidery in Valparaiso will sell beverages for $5.

Jason Jakes will perform from 3 to 5 p.m., and "America's Got Talent" contestant Keelan Wendorf will do street magic. There also will be a DJ and a hula hoop contest.

Tickets are $5 for general admission, $50 for VIP or $90 for VIP couples. In addition to early entrance, VIP tickets also include a tasting from each truck, a treat from Mother Wilma's Marshmallow Factory, a NWI Food Truck Fest Souvenir Cup, a Stella Artois chalice and a drink ticket.
