Freddy's Steakhouse in Hammond will start hosting "Last Sunday Jazz Nights" with jazz pianist Keenan Baxter every month.

The old school steakhouse, which has been around for half a century at 165th Street and Kennedy Avenue, will host its first concert in the series between 5 and 7 p.m. Sunday.

Baxter is a Valparaiso-based composer with more than a dozen albums who performs both his original music and classic favorites around the Region at venues such as Seasons Restaurant in Merrillville and Carmella's Cafe in Gary.

He'll start playing the final Sunday of every month at the old school steakhouse at 6442 Kennedy Ave. in Hammond that's known for steaks like its signature char-grilled Angus bone-in cowboy ribeye, chops and a vintage ambiance with dark, romantic lighting.
