The popular NWI Comic-Con returns to the Halls of St. George in Schererville for a fifth year on Feb. 24.
More than 8,000 people have attended "The Region's Premier Comic Book Show" since it debuted in 2014, many dressing up as their favorite comic book or Star Wars characters. It's hosted more than 250 different artists and raised more than $4,000 for charities like Humane Society Calumet Area.
The five-year anniversary edition of Comic-Con will take place between 11 a.m. at 6 p.m. Feb. 24 in the banquet hall at 905 E Joliet St. Visitors will be able to buy rare comics, marvel at the ingenuity of cosplayers and meet the creators behind their favorite comics.
This year's artists include Zac Atkinson, Steve Palenica, Sean Price, Anthony Cleveland, Leslie Lambert-Mason and Philo Barnhart, a Walt Disney animator who worked on films like "The Little Mermaid" and "The Secret of NIMH."
Organizers said there will be returning dealers, a new cosplay corner and new concessions.
Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for military, police, firefighters and senior citizens, and $2 per children younger than 12.
