Lil Wayne, who’s sold more than 100 million records worldwide and recorded one of the top-selling albums of all time, will play his first Northwest Indiana show next month at the Hammond Civic Center.
The acclaimed hip hop artist has won five Grammy Awards and 10 BET Awards, among many other honors, over a celebrated career since busting out on the scene with the platinum record “Tha Block is Hot” in 1999.
The rapper, known for albums like “500 Degreez,” “Tha Carter” and “Tha Carter III,” headlines the upcoming Summer Power Fest in Hammond. Other scheduled acts include Blac Youngsta, DJ K Ceasar and DJ Pharris.
Memphis rapper Blac Youngsta is known for the mix tapes “Fast Bricks,” “Fast Bricks 2” and “Fast Bricks 3” and the hit song “Heavy.”
Renegade of Go Boyz and Power 92’s Shagg Nice host the concert, and more acts will announced.
The all-ages show will take place between 5 p.m. and midnight Sept. 2 at the Hammond Civic Center, 5826 Sohl Ave. Tickets are $50 and up, running up to $115 for a VIP ticket that does not include access to Lil Wayne.
A southern rapper known for puns, dreadlocks and his many tattoos, Lil Wayne had many chart-topping hits like “Got Money,” “Believe Me,” “Krazy,” “My Homies Still,” “6 Foot 7 Foot,” “A Milli” and Lollipop.” The hip hop artist, who topped Elvis as the male artist with the most entries on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart, has collaborated with a wide array of musicians, including Chance the Rapper, Eminem, Birdman, Rick Ross and T-Pain.
