WHITING, IN - George Nastav from Whiting, IN age 88, fell asleep in the Lord on October 12, 2018 at Joliet Community Hospice, Joliet, IL. He is preceded in death by wives Angeline (nee Anton) and Kathren (nee Haralambos). Survived by his children: Joseph (Alexandria) Nastav, Pearlann (Fr.Stephen) Bithos and Rose (Steve) Stucker. Cherished Papou to George and Maia Nastav, Angeline Bithos, Kathryn (John) Schieber, Dean (Jen) Stucker, Georgiana, Kayleah and Stephanie Stucker, and Great-Papou to Charles Stucker. Also survived by his sister Marlene Nastav, several in-laws, many nieces, nephews and Godchildren. He is also preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Rose Nastav; brothers: Thomas Nastav and John Nastav; and sisters: Ann (late John) Latta, Mildred (late Steve) Domsich, Marie (late Emil) Chovanec, Dorothy (late Matt) Gavranic, Catherine (Jerome) Sutko, Rosemary Nastav and Barbara (Michael) Marlow; and nephew, Richard Latta.
Visitation will be held Monday, October 15, 2018 at LINCOLN RIDGE FUNERAL HOME , 7607 W. Lincoln Highway, Schererville, IN from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with Trisagion Prayer at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at St. George Greek Orthodox Church with Rev. Constantine Aliferakis officiating, 528 W. 77th Avenue, Schererville, with burial following at Ridgelawn Cemetery.
George was a lifelong resident of Whiting- Robertsdale. He was a member and past president of St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Schererville, and Assumption Greek Orthodox of Hegewisch, IL. George was a veteran of the US Navy and served during the Korean Conflict as a machinist on the USS Princeton. He was a graduate of Whiting High School Class of 1949 and was a member of the 1948 State Championship Football Team. He retired from Inland Stee1. He was an active member and past president of the Order of Ahepa Calumet Chapter 157 and Rocky Mountain Chapter 501. He was a loving husband, father, papou and brother who enjoyed fishing and spending winters in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
