WINFIELD, IN - Karen Juanita Schreiber, age 74 of Winfield, passed into Eternity on September 29, 2018. She has joined her parents, Richard and Katherine Shupe, and her beloved husband, Michael H. Schreiber. She was born on February 23, 1944, and attended Roosevelt H.S. Afterwards, she pursued her love of cosmetology and went on to start her own nail salon. She also worked for The Post Tribune, The Times, and various businesses at Southlake Mall. She loved to work and stay busy. She also loved horseback riding, hiking, picnics with her family, and shooting her son's pistol. And her Subaru. Lord, how she loved that Subaru... Her passion for animals was unmatched, as she took in any stray she found (cats, dogs, opossums...) and cared for them as if they were her own children. She bred, raised, and showed Dobermans and Australian Shepherds, and was a member of Steel City Kennel Club for over 30 years, holding many offices including president, and was currently serving as Treasurer. She did anything and everything asked to do in the club, and will be sorely missed by all members.
Karen found brightness and humor in even the bleakest moments, and anybody who was blessed to have crossed paths with her will carry that brightness in their hearts forever.
She is survived by her children: Richard, Michelle, Daryl, and Katherine, as well as her step-children: Jeanette, David, Michelle, Kudos, and Cheryl. She is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
