St. Patrick's Day is around the corner. It's time to start planning your culinary activities for the holiday which celebrates Ireland's patron saint and all things Irish.

Traditionally, in the U.S., culinary staples consumed on St. Paddy's Day include corned beef and cabbage, soda bread, colcannon and Irish stew.

If you don't want to prepare an Irish-inspired meal in your home kitchen, there are many restaurants and venues that are offering corned beef and cabbage and other Irish fare in the Region.

Here's a sample of what's available in the area.

Crown Point's St. Patrick's Day Celebration, Friday, March 17, in downtown Crown Point. A corned beef and cabbage dinner will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Crown Point Fire Station. Adult dinners are $10 and senior dinners are $9. Children may order the corned beef and cabbage dinner for $6 or the hot dog dinner for $4. Dinners will also be available to purchase at the door. Eagles Lodge St. Patrick's Meal, 805 Elm St., Valparaiso. Reuben sandwiches and corned beef and cabbage will be served starting at noon on March 11. The food will be prepared by The Baker Brothers. Cost is $10 for either the Reuben, fries and pickle dinner or the corned beef and cabbage. Call (219) 464-2011.

Blue Chip Casino, Michigan City. The casino's Options Buffet will have its St Patrick's meal from 3 to 9 p.m. March 17. The menu features the Captain's Catch menu plus Corned Beef and Cabbage, boiled Irish potatoes and more. Cost is $26.99. Visit bluechipcasino.com

The Center for Visual and Performing Arts, 1040 Ridge Road, Munster.  In conjunction with a performance by Celtic duo Switchback at Theatre at the Center, there will be a corned beef and cabbage dinner at 5 p.m. Cost is $21 for the dinner and an additional $30 for the show. J.J. Kelley's, 2455 Bernice Road, Lansing. The eatery will have mini reubens; reuben skins and Irish quesadillas during the week leading up to St. Patrick's Day. On March 17 through March 19, there will also be Corned Beef and Cabbage; Shepherd's Pie; A Combo Platter; Irish Coffee and more available.

Bartlett's Gourmet Grill and Tavern, 131 E. Dunes Highway, Beverly Shores. The restaurant will offer a corned beef dinner on March 17.

Chief O’Neill’s Pub & Restaurant, 3471 N. Elston Ave., Chicago. The 17th annual St. Patrick’s Day Celebration will take place on March 11, 12, 13 and 17. On Saturday, March 11 and on March 17, Chief O’Neill’s will recreate the ancient, traditional Celtic Pig Roast. Lunch/Dinner buffet is from noon to10 p.m., Adults are $15; Kids 12 and younger are $10. Throughout the festivities, there will be live music as well. All meals will be buffet service on March 11, 12, and 17. The regular menu is not available at that time. Among items on the lunch/dinner buffet are Corned Beer Dinner, with cabbage, carrots, and boiled potatoes; Fish and Chips; Shepherd’s Pie; Bangers and Mash; BBQ Pork; Irish Curry Chicken with Rice; Pasta Marinara; Salads/Cole Slaw; Irish Bread; and more. O'Donovan's Pub and Restaurant, 2100 W. Irving Park Road, Chicago, will have various festivities in celebration of St. Patrick's Day. On March 11, there will be an Irish-themed party as well as The Belly Buster Brunch from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. On March 17, festivities include entertainment, a special menu and corned beef and cabbage.
