HOBART | Breaded chicken sometimes does not make for a standout meal. It would rarely outshine a filet, for me. But the Chicken Giardiniera at Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant is something special.

The reason has more to do with an accompaniment than it does with the chicken.

The dish is served with the restaurant's special giardiniera. The light, fresh and non-oil-based side is packed with olives, peppers and other finely chopped veggies. The combination of the breaded chicken breast, giardiniera, Parmesan cheese and creamy mashed potatoes is heaven on a plate.

If you're more of a beef eater, the restaurant's Trio of Medallions is delicious. Three tender cuts of filet are served with crusts of horseradish, bleu cheese and Parmesan, mashed potatoes and asparagus.

I hear Cooper's Hawk also sells wine. (Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.) While the eatery is known for that, it's the food that brings me back.
