ST. JOHN — Earlier this month Wael Farouk, Chicago-based pianist, performed at St. John the Evangelist School. Farouk engaged the students with explanations of the history of music and the difference in musical instruments similar to the piano. He wowed the crowd with his talent of working the piano keys. Farouk has already had an extensive performing career at the age of 32. He has performed tours in Europe and has performed in Columbia, Japan and throughout the United States. In 2013, he made his Carnegie hall solo debut, which received rave reviews as “absolutely masterful playing”.
Farouk overcame adversity due to his small stature and an unusual hand condition that prevents him from making a fist or straightening his fingers. His dedication and perseverance as a musician is truly an inspiration to all. He offered words of inspiration to the St. John the Evangelist students.
