MUNSTER — Two men brandished firearms and demanded iPhones at a Munster cellphone store, police say, but made off with cash when told their phone of choice wasn't in stock.

Police responded to an armed robbery at the Boost Mobile, 8148 Calumet Ave., at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday.

Police said two men entered the cellphone store and brandished firearms.

“They demanded iPhones,” Munster Chief Steve Scheckel said. “They were told there were none, so they took cash.”

The men then fled on foot, running westbound on 30th Street in Munster.

Police are in search of the suspects, described at two African-American men, and the case is under investigation.

Scheckel said further details of the incident and surveillance footage stills will be released to the public once they're available.
