LAPORTE — LaPorte County Sheriff's police are investigating the death of a 15-year-old boy over the weekend.

Officers with the department's midnight patrol were called out Friday to a disturbance at a residence in the 2800 W. block of County Road 450 North, police said.

Detectives were notified the following day that a 15-year-old boy involved in the earlier disturbance had died at another location, police said.

"While Sheriff’s Office personnel are aware this statement and investigation will create public interest, the public is being asked not to speculate on the circumstances," police said. "Rather, the public is urged to be respectful of the decedent's family and allow them privacy as they grieve the loss of a loved family member."
