CROWN POINT — Police arrested a 23-year-old on April 15 after he allegedly jumped two people as they were exiting The Registry Bar & Grill.
Ricardo Herrera, of Schererville, has been charged with battery, criminal mischief, public intoxication and disorderly conduct, according to Crown Point police.
A second person with Herrera allegedly threw a man through Saylo's Barber Shop window, shattering the glass during a drunken argument, according to a police report.
A Crown Point officer was dispatched at 2:22 a.m. to The Registry, 15 N. Court St., in reference to a fight in progress, where another police officer was attempting to break up a fight between five individuals, according to the report.
One man, who had "a large amount of blood coming from both hands and covering his shirt and jeans," told police he was jumped by Herrera and another person while exiting The Registry.
The victim claimed one person, not Herrera, threw him through Saylor's Barber Shop window, and he was struck multiple times by Herrera.
He had cuts to his hands, forearms and knees. Once paramedics arrived, the victim was treated on scene but signed a refusal to be transported to Franciscan Health in Crown Point.
Herrera was cleared by hospital staff and transported to Lake County jail, police said.
