East Chicago man charged with molesting child relative

CROWN POINT — A 46-year-old man is charged with molesting a female relative in East Chicago.

East Chicago police received a report of suspected child molestation April 25 from a case manager for Indiana Department of Child Services, according to a probable cause affidavit.

The case manager said a 6-year-old girl in foster care told her foster mother and two other state employees Eduardo Deluna, the girl's relative, had sexually molested her while she was at his residence in the 1300 block of East Chicago Avenue, the affidavit states.

The case manager said the girl had last visited Deluna on June 1, 2017, the affidavit states. She was 5 years old at that time.

Deluna denied the allegations in an interview with detectives May 2.

Deluna was charged Friday in Lake Criminal Court with child molestation, a Level 1 felony.

Deluna was wanted by authorities on a warrant Monday, court records state. He is currently not afforded bond in the case.
