EAST CHICAGO — Three bags of money were taken in a burglary reported early Monday at a gas station, police said.

East Chicago police were dispatched at about 4:30 a.m. to the Luke gas station, 5695 Indianapolis Blvd., after employees reported an alarm system was not functioning properly, Detective Sgt. Terence Fife said.

The employees told police the system apparently had not been set the night before. They discovered the three missing Dunbar bags after checking the business's safes, he said.

An undisclosed amount of money was taken in the burglary.
