HAMMOND -- Police seized four guns, a small amount of drugs and ammunition Thursday in a raid linked to their investigation into a recent homicide in the city's Robertsdale neighborhood.
A SWAT team executed a search warrant in the 1600 block of Mrytle Avenue, Lt. Steve Kellogg said. No arrests were made.
Elijah Nolan, 19, of Gary, died April 7 after he was shot in the 1500 block of Mrytle Avenue in what police have described as a gun sale gone bad.
Derrell McLaurin-McNutt, 20, was wounded, police said.
Police suspect Nolan and McLaurin-McNutt met over the purchase of a MAC-10 compact semiautomatic gun. A robbery was attempted, and gunfire broke out, police said.
Police were considering the possibility that the shooting was gang-related.
Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Joseph Munoz at 219-852-2995.
