HOBART — Police have released surveillance images of a person accused of stealing more than $1,000 in merchandise from a store Sunday night.

At 6:42 p.m. Sunday, the suspect entered the store in the 8100 block of East 37th Avenue, according to Hobart police Lt. James Gonzales. He then exited about five minutes later carrying a green duffel bag full of merchandise, Gonzales said.

He was described by police as "either black or Hispanic," and wearing a dark skull cap, black jacket, black T-shirt and gray pants. 

The Hobart Police Department is asking for assistance from the public to help identify the suspect shown in the images.

Hobart police did not release the business name or address.
