Crime watch meeting planned.

GARY — A *25-year-old man gunned down Monday in the city's West Side has been identified.

Julius James IV, of the 1400 block of West 24th Avenue in Gary, died from gunshot wounds in a homicide Monday, according to a news release from the Lake County coroner's office.

The coroner's office said it was dispatched about 1 p.m. to 2301 Clark Road in Gary for a report of a deceased individual. James was pronounced dead at 1:25 p.m.

The Lake County/Gary Metro Homicide Unit, Lake County Sheriff's Department and Gary's police and fire departments all assisted at the scene.

Lt. Dawn Westerfield with the Gary Police Department could not be reached for comment Monday.
