CROWN POINT — A 34-year-old man is accused of fighting and injuring two police officers Saturday at Festival of the Lakes.
Jovan J. House, of Chicago, was charged Monday in Lake Criminal Court with two counts battery resulting in bodily injury to a public safety official and two counts of resisting law enforcement.
Two officers on patrol Saturday night at Festival of the Lakes in Wolf Lake Park said they observed a man making gang signs and waving his middle finger, court records state.
The officers told the man he had to stop or leave the concert, records state. The man refused both requests, and began pushing, shoving and fighting officers when they tried to escort him from the crowd.
House was handcuffed after additional officers arrived at the scene, records state. One officer suffered cuts to his wrist and elbow as a result of the fight. The other officer was transported to St. Margaret Hospital in Hammond for a fractured right ankle and scratches to his knee and shin.
House already faces charges in Owensboro, Kentucky, of domestic assault, criminal trespass, fleeing police, disorderly conduct, public intoxication and resisting arrest, records state.
House was in custody Tuesday without bond.
