CROWN POINT — A Gary man faces a prison sentence of 33 years for stabbing a woman, dragging her into an abandoned home and raping her last year, court records show.

Willie Lee Dixon, 51, pleaded guilty Friday on a rape charge during a hearing before Lake Criminal Court Judge Diane Boswell.

Boswell scheduled Dixon's sentencing hearing for June 11.

Dixon admitted in a plea agreement that he began following a then-26-year-old woman Jan. 17, 2018, as she walked north on Harrison Street from 45th Avenue in Gary.

Dixon pulled the woman into an abandoned home near 44th Avenue while holding a knife to her neck and threatened to stab her if she didn't quiet down, records allege.

Dixon is accused of stabbing the woman in the leg as he dragged her into the home, ordering her to undress and raping her.

In exchange for Dixon's plea to one count of level 1 felony rape, the Lake County prosecutor's office agreed to drop felony charges of kidnapping, battery by means of a deadly weapon, battery resulting in serious bodily injury, intimidation and strangulation.

A level 1 felony carries a possible sentence of 20 to 40 years and has an advisory sentence of 30 years, the plea agreement says.

Dixon agreed to a 33-year prison sentence and will be required to register as a sex offender, records show.
