CROWN POINT — A 23-year-old East Chicago man was indicted Thursday in another man's attack almost two years ago.
A grand jury indicted Marzell Walden Jr. in Lake Criminal Court on charges of attempted murder, aggravated battery, battery committed with a deadly weapon and battery resulting in serious bodily injury, all felonies.
Walden is accused of attacking a 44-year-old man Sept. 18, 2016, in East Chicago, court records state.
East Chicago police did not respond to requests for comment Monday about the allegations.
Walden already faces charges of attempted murder and felony battery on allegations he participated in a woman's shooting April 1 in the 3400 block of Guthrie Street in East Chicago, records state.
The woman was sitting in a vehicle with her boyfriend that morning when she was shot in the back, causing spinal and rib fractures. Police identified the woman's shooters through surveillance footage as Mark A. Harrison III, 22, of Indianapolis, and Larcel W. Lockhart, 21, of Hammond.
Walden allegedly served as the getaway driver for the shooters, records state.
On July 6, Walden posted a $50,000 surety bond in that case. His surety bond in the new case is $100,000, records state.
