PORTAGE — What started as delivering a warrant to a man wanted by police ended up being a foot chase for officers here.
According to police, officers received information for Jordan Olsen, 26, wanted on a warrant for failure to appear in court, who was at a home in the 5500 block of Tulip Avenue around 6:30 a.m. Saturday. When they arrived, a resident said Olsen had left minutes before.
Police began searching the area and just after 9 a.m. spotted Olsen walking on Tulip Avenue near Willowdale Road. When the officer got out of his car, Olsen allegedly began to run.
According to police, officers chased Olsen along Willowdale, Boulder Avenue and Whittier Street before spotting him hiding in a backyard in the 3200 block of Whittier. He began to run again toward Aspen Avenue, then Swanson Road. As police set up a perimeter around the area, they eventually found Olsen hiding under several bushes in the 3200 block of Swanson Road.
He was taken into custody and transported to Porter County Jail. In addition to the warrant, Olsen was charged with misdemeanor fleeing law enforcement.
